New Direction Christian Academy is devoted to providing high-quality tutoring services and after-school program to students of all ages.

A Short History of New Direction Christian Academy

In 2006, shortly after relocating to Georgia from Tampa, Florida, New Direction Christian Academy’s owner, Ms. Bull, and her husband decided to start a school. After praying about their endeavor for a period of time, the Lord directed them to Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

From whence came the name New Direction Christian Academy. They, consequently, discovered a dilapidated building, which used to be a mechanic’s garage, at 114 Parker Street in Statesboro, Georgia.

They then decided to renovate it and turn it into a Christian school.

Ms. Bull and her husband went door-to-door in the area introducing themselves. New Direction Christian Academy started with three students recruited from the immediate neighborhood. They offered tutoring services entirely for free for the next five years that followed. Tutoring took place on Saturdays only because Ms. Bull was still teaching full-time back then.

Gradually, their clientele grew, and the parents started contributing a minimal fee for snacks and to help with utilities. To date, New Direction Christian Academy has served approximately 500 lower-income students from the surrounding areas.

Ms. Bull has retired from the public school system. She now devotes her time to an invigorating after-school program.

New Direction Christian Academy focuses on the spiritual, educational, and social development of students. Every child counts. Every child is important. Every child will become a contributing member of society in a positive way.
